Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) Calculator
This Advanced Blood Alcohol Content Calculator allows users to estimate their BAC based on their weight, gender, type and number of drinks, and time passed since drinking. It also lets users input their drink size if it’s not one of the predefined categories, such as a custom drink.
How the Blood Alcohol Concentration Calculator Works:
User Inputs:
- Gender: The calculator adjusts the BAC calculation based on gender, using the typical body water percentage for males and females (68% for males, 55% for females).
- Weight: The user provides their weight. The unit can be chosen between pounds or kilograms.
- Time Since Drinking: The user specifies how many hours have passed since their last drink, allowing for the metabolism of alcohol over time to be considered.
- Number of Drinks: The user enters how many drinks they have consumed.
- Drink Type: There are predefined options for drink types, including various sizes of beer, wine, and liquor. Users can also select “Others” if their drink isn’t listed and input the custom drink size (in oz).
Calculations
- Alcohol Amount: For each drink type, there is a corresponding alcohol content. For example:
- Beer (12 oz) contains about 0.54 oz of alcohol.
- Wine (5 oz) contains about 0.6 oz of alcohol.
- Liquor (1.5 oz) contains about 0.6 oz of alcohol.
- The total alcohol consumed is then calculated by multiplying the number of drinks by the alcohol content for the selected drink.
BAC Formula

- Alcohol Consumed (oz) is the total amount of alcohol consumed in ounces.
- Weight in Pounds is the body weight of the user (converted from kilograms if necessary).
- Gender Factor is 0.68 for males and 0.55 for females.
- Time (hours) is the number of hours since the user consumed their last drink.
Legal Limit:
- If the BAC is 0.08% or higher, it indicates that the user is over the legal limit for driving in most places.
- If the BAC is below 0.08%, the user is considered within the legal limit.
Disclaimer:
This BAC calculator provides an estimate based on general formulas. Results should not be used to determine your ability to drive or operate machinery. Alcohol affects individuals differently, and this tool cannot account for all factors. A BAC of 0.08% or higher is the legal driving limit in most areas, but even lower BAC levels may impair judgment. Always drink responsibly and never drive after drinking.
